Fearless Females

Miami, FL -

This was new and great news to me. I had no idea the Williams sisters were making history in professional sports by becoming the first African American females to have ownership in a NFL franchise. In August of 2009, the Serena and Venus officially became limited ownership partners in the NFL’s Miami Dolphins, according to People magazine, putting entrepreneurship and ownership on the front burner of conversations in the black community. Personally, I think this is a wonderful POWER MOVE by the sisters, but wonder if the lesson of ownership and entrepreneurship will reach the wider black community. It seems we have slipped into a comfortable state of consumerism and think this is the place to be. With all my being I want to see our people wake from our slumber to begin building, creating and supporting great businesses that will economically and employment wise serve our community.
