Detroit, MI -

Life Remodeled will return in early October for its annual Six Day Project to the Durfee neighborhood in Detroit to continue cleanup and beautification efforts to 300 city blocks surrounding the Durfee Innovation Center. The nonprofit organization usually deploys 10,000 volunteers to help out with their mission but this year, the year of COVID-19, Life Remodeled has downsized to just 2,000 volunteers to adhere to the social distancing guidelines. Despite the changes to the size of the team, the size of the goal never changes. When the Six Day Project is complete, the area stands to benefit from 500 new trees and perennials, three new bus shelters and two new community gardens, among other improvements. The improvement framework spans 300 city blocks. The organization has been corralling more than 10,000 volunteers for cleanup projects each year since 2014. The nonprofit builds relationships throughout the year with community leaders and influencers in the region to mobilize their networks. Since the launch of the Six Day Project in 2014, Life Remodeled has invested more than $21 million, much of which is made up of in-kind donations, into cleanup work.
